چکیده

Adequate infiltration through Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavements (PICPs) is critical to their hydraulic and stormwater treatment performance. Infiltration is affected by clogging caused by the trapping of fines in the PICP surface, which, over time, reduces treatment performance. Clogging can be reduced by periodic maintenance such as vacuum sweeping and/or pressure washing. Maintenance requirements can be indicated by measuring reduced infiltration rates. This paper compared infiltration results using the standard test (C1781M-14a) with the results of a new stormwater infiltration field test (SWIFT) developed in Australia to evaluate the maintenance requirements of PICPs. A strong correlation (Pearson’s r = −0.714) was found between results using the two methods. This study found that the SWIFT was a reliable method for estimating the degree of clogging of PICPs while successfully overcoming some of the problems with the more technical existing test methodology such as horizontal water leakage (use of sealant), unrealistic pressure heads, speed of test, and portability. The SWIFT test is a simple, fast and inexpensive way for asset managers and local government employees to quickly assess the maintenance requirements of PICP installations in the field. OPEN ACCESS

Laboratory analysis of the infiltration capacity of interlocking concrete block pavements in car parks.

Interlocking concrete block pavements (ICBPs) have been widely used in car parks to reduce runoff. Researches have demonstrated that clogging is the most influential factor in the reduction of the infiltration capacity of this type of permeable pavement. Nevertheless, there is no laboratory study of the infiltration performance of ICBPs that combines clogging levels with variables related with ...

Flow field and heat transfer of MgO-Ag/water micropolar hybrid nanofluid in a permeable channel

In this study, the least square method is applied to study the laminar flow, heat transfer and microrotation of MgO-Ag/water micropolar hybrid nanofluid in a permeable channel. The bottom wall is hot and coolant fluid is injected into the channel from the top wall. The base fluid in the channel is water and volume fraction of nanoparticle (50% Ag and 50% MgO by volume) is between 0 and 0.02. By...

Investigating the Effect of natural Pozzolans on Mechanical Properties of Roller Compacted Concrete

Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC), is a concrete with zero slump, which is used in damming and road pavement. Roller Compacted Concrete Pavement (RCCP) bear heavy traffic loads and severe weather conditions. This type of concrete is due to its economic and environmental capabilities, including reduced construction and maintenance costs, longer durability and longer lifetime, as well as environmen...

Flow field and heat transfer in a channel with a permeable wall filled with Al2O3-Cu/water micropolar hybrid nanofluid, effects of chemical reaction and magnetic field

In this study, flow field and heat transfer of Al2O3-Cu/water micropolar hybrid nanofluid is investigated in a permeable channel using the least square method. The channel is encountered to chemical reaction, and a constant magnetic field is also applied. The bottom wall is hot and coolant fluid is injected into the channel from the top wall. The effects of different parameters such as the Reyn...
